EMILY BENÍTEZ
SENIOR ATTORNEY
Emily Benítez is an attorney licensed to practice law in both Mexico and the United States. As a Senior Attorney at Godzina & Strange PLLC, she focuses her practice on U.S. immigration law, representing individuals and families in a wide range of immigration matters.
Born and raised in Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico, Emily earned her law degree from Universidad Anáhuac in Mexico City. She later moved to Houston, where she earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in U.S. Law from the University of Houston Law Center and became licensed to practice law in Texas. She is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
Emily’s practice includes family-based immigration and removal defense. She represents clients before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Executive Office for Immigration Review in matters involving family petitions, adjustment of status, waivers, asylum, cancellation of removal, and other forms of immigration relief. She also represents individuals in detained immigration proceedings and appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals.
Having studied law in both Mexico and the United States, Emily brings a practical and cross-cultural perspective to her practice. She is thoughtful and meticulous in her approach, with a strong focus on preparation and attention to detail. She brings that same level of care to her clients and to the team she works with, believing that thoughtful preparation, clear communication, and collaboration are essential to providing strong representation.
Emily’s interest in immigration law extends beyond her day-to-day practice. In her free time, Emily enjoys cooking, music, traveling, staying active, and spending time with her family and friends. She remains closely connected to her hometown of Acapulco.
